Founder

Steve Rimar is a data analytics expert, entrepreneur, and engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the software engineering, business intelligence, and IT industries. Steve has earned multiple honors including being published in CNN, NBC, Investor’s Business Daily, InformationWeek, Accenture’s Annual Report, Qualcomm’s Report About People and holds two U.S. patents. Steve’s experience and industry recognition within the data analytics field provided him the opportunity to found Analytica Consulting in 2015.

Jun Lee

Managing Director

Jun oversees all delivery operations across Analytica’s analytics, engineering, data science, and data governance service lines. With more than 15 years of experience leading complex analytics, data engineering, and business intelligence programs for State of California agencies and commercial clients, he brings deep expertise in modern data stacks, cloud platforms, KPI frameworks, and enterprise reporting ecosystems. A trusted advisor to executives, Jun excels at translating complex organizational needs into scalable, outcome-driven solutions. He is also known for building and mentoring high-performing consulting teams, driving consistency, quality, and operational excellence across engagements.

Jun holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego, with a concentration in User Experience Design and Accessibility. 

Laura POWELL

Senior Director of Operations & Client Experience

Laura Powell is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and the lead project manager for the firm’s portfolio of client engagements. She oversees the successful delivery of complex, multi-year initiatives for state and local government agencies as well as commercial clients, bringing a strategic and client-focused approach to managing projects.

In her leadership role, Laura directs the firm’s financial and operational strategy, including project finances, resource management, forecasting, and accounts receivable. She contributes to the firm’s growth by managing the project pipeline, developing proposals and contract materials, and building strong relationships with current and prospective clients.

Before joining Analytica, Laura spent eight years at Goldman Sachs, where she managed cross-functional processes and client relationships in operational leadership roles. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Bucknell University.

Josh Karpen

Principal Management Lead

Josh holds a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Northwestern University, and a Data Mining Certification from University of California, San Diego. He is an expert in data modeling, data visualization and predictive analytics. He has expertise and certifications in many data analysis tools and platforms including Tableau, Denodo, Microsoft, R, SAS, Python, and SPSS.

Josh’s domain expertise spans multiple domains including Public Health, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development and Insurance.

Thomas Mackay

Principal Lead Data Engineering

Thomas Mackay is a Principal Lead Data Engineer at Analytica Consulting with over 20 years of experience delivering enterprise IT, data engineering, and business intelligence solutions. He leads Analytica’s Data Engineering practice, guiding technical strategy and delivery across complex client engagements.

He brings deep expertise in designing and modernizing data platforms for both Fortune 500 companies and public sector agencies, including the California Department of Public Health. 

His technical skillset spans Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, FiveTran, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle—supported by hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Azure-based infrastructure. 

Tom holds a Master’s in Industrial Process Management and a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), and is certified in Snowflake and Qlik. He is a trusted technical leader and solution architect for large-scale data engineering initiatives in health, finance, and operations.

Michael Marks

Principal Lead Data Science & AI

Michael leads Analytica Consulting’s Data Science & AI practice and brings 12 years of experience in applied data science. He holds an M.S. in Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley and has deep domain expertise in multivariate statistics, natural language processing (NLP), GIS, machine learning, simulation modeling, data privacy, and human-centered data product design.

He is skilled in a wide range of data analytics platforms and programming languages, including R, SQL, Python, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, ArcGIS, R Shiny, and D3.js. Michael has co-authored 10 manuscripts and abstracts in the areas of machine learning, optimization, biomechanics, orthopedics, and pharmaceuticals—including a lead-author publication in Nature’s Scientific Reports on high-dimensional data analysis.

Brent Johnson

Principal Lead Consultant

Brent is a seasoned business intelligence executive and data visualization expert with over 15 years of experience and an MBA from UC Davis. He is a Tableau Certified Professional and is proficient with several platforms including Microsoft, Tableau, Salesforce, Cognos, and Denodo.

Brent has deep expertise in the public health, healthcare, vision, pharmaceutical, and biomedical research industries. He helps clients utilize their data to improve decision-making and increase efficiency. He has garnered extensive experience managing numerous government agency data projects for the the States of California and Nebraska. He has also managed implementations at several commercial Fortune 500 organizations including Pfizer, Illumina and Qualcomm.

Jake Coniglione

Principal Consultant

Jake is an experienced data analyst and engineer with expertise in developing analytics applications that are accessible to both technical and non-technical business users.

Jake has expertise with several analytics platforms including Tableau, Qlik and Microsoft BI suite and has worked with various data sources ranging from relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), commercial applications (Salesforce, Oracle) and custom software. Jake has presented to community leaders, city officials, and executives of respected companies.

Carl Hollingsworth

Principal Consultant

Carl holds an MBA from the University of Illinois and is an expert at distilling actionable business insights from complex data sources. His expertise spans a variety of data analysis platforms and languages including Spotfire, Tableau, Qlik, Denodo, SQL, R, and Python.

Carl’s experience in data analytics and data strategy covers multiple sectors including the semiconductor, equipment maintenance, manufacturing, education, and insurance industries.

Brendan Law

Principal Consultant

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Diego State University. He developed his foundational skillset in data science with the Harvard Extension School. He has over 10 years of leadership in business intelligence with expertise in data modeling, data visualization and predictive analytics.

Brendan has domain expertise in media, entertainment, advertising, healthcare, finance, biotech and life sciences. His technical expertise includes Python, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SSIS/SSRS, Denodo and Spotfire.

Daniel Molitor

Principal Consultant

Daniel has more than 8 years of experience in providing data analytics and data strategy solutions in numerous business sectors. He holds a dual Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University, and studied Advanced Mathematics at UC Berkeley.

He has a passion for generating insightful data stories leveraging statistical theory, economic models, scientific computing, and forecast behavior.

Emily Rail

Principal Consultant

Emily has a masters degree in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. She uses a variety of skills for data analysis including Python, R, Tableau, and SQL. Emily’s experience in data analysis includes corporate sustainability planning, building portfolio analysis, and energy use optimization.

Sophia Sha

Principal Consultant

Sophia holds a M.S. in Data Science & Engineering from the University of California, San Diego with specialization in machine learning, natural language processing, data management and business analytics. She has expertise in several analytics and visualization platforms including Tableau, Python, R, MATLAB, and SQL.

Sophia’s experience spans a variety of industries and domains including electrical engineering, telecommunications, transportation, e-commerce, e-learning and public health.

NAOUFAL benelhajjam

Senior Data Engineer

 Naoufal is an experienced data engineer with expertise in designing and managing complex data systems, and building end-to-end data solutions, including data lakes, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure, using tools like Azure, Snowflake, Power BI, and Fivetran. He has a wealth of experience he designing pipelines and implementing data migration solutions using technologies such as Azure, Cosmos DB, and Snowflake.

James holds a master’s degree in data science and engineering and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of San Diego. James is a seasoned software engineer, data analytics expert, and data engineer whose 10+ years of experience spans a wide range of technologies including Python, Javascript, C, GO, SQL, D3, CSS, HTML, and various related frameworks. James also has domain expertise in security and DevOps and is well versed in Scrum methodology.

Adita Zeqollari

Adita holds an M.S. in Data Science & Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and a B.S. in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Adita has more than 10 years of experience in multiple sectors including healthcare, biotech, and education.

Her expertise spans a variety of data analytics areas including machine learning, natural language processing, data visualization, data governance and data management. She has a strong working knowledge of several data analytics tools including Python, Apache Spark, SAS, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, Oracle BI, and IBM Cognos.
