Founder

Steve Rimar is a data analytics expert, entrepreneur, and engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the software engineering, business intelligence, and IT industries. Steve has earned multiple honors including being published in CNN, NBC, Investor’s Business Daily, InformationWeek, Accenture’s Annual Report, Qualcomm’s Report About People and holds two U.S. patents. Steve’s experience and industry recognition within the data analytics field provided him the opportunity to found Analytica Consulting in 2015.

Clifton Leung

Senior Director of Finance & Operations

Clifton has been leading Analytica Consulting’s finance and internal operations for the past five years. He is an accomplished Finance and Operations executive with over 17 years of experience, including roles at top consulting firms such as Deloitte and PwC. His expertise spans strategic and financial operations, business process redesign, and building high-performing teams.

Clifton excels at streamlining operations, implementing complex financial procedures, supporting business development initiatives, and working cross-functionally to drive results. His industry experience includes Consumer Products, Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, Energy & Utilities, Entertainment, and Telecom.

He holds an MBA in Finance and Management Science from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Laura POWELL

Director of Project Management and Client Operations

Laura is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is responsible for overseeing project planning, resource coordination, and delivery operations across client engagements. She brings extensive experience managing complex, multi-year initiatives and fostering strong client relationships across government and commercial sectors. As our Director of Project Management and Client Operations, she drives the implementation of standardized project methodologies and ensures alignment between delivery teams, operations, and executive leadership. Since joining Analytica in 2021, she has also contributed to internal initiatives in financial analysis, forecasting, business development, and operations. Prior to Analytica, Laura spent 8 years at Goldman Sachs managing cross-functional processes and client relationships in operational leadership roles. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Bucknell University.

Thomas Mackay

Principal Lead Data Engineering

Thomas Mackay is a Principal Lead Data Engineer at Analytica Consulting with over 20 years of experience delivering enterprise IT, data engineering, and business intelligence solutions. He leads Analytica’s Data Engineering practice, guiding technical strategy and delivery across complex client engagements.

He brings deep expertise in designing and modernizing data platforms for both Fortune 500 companies and public sector agencies, including the California Department of Public Health. 

His technical skillset spans Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, FiveTran, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle—supported by hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Azure-based infrastructure. 

Tom holds a Master’s in Industrial Process Management and a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), and is certified in Snowflake and Qlik. He is a trusted technical leader and solution architect for large-scale data engineering initiatives in health, finance, and operations.

Michael Marks

Principal Lead Data Science & AI

Michael leads Analytica Consulting’s Data Science & AI practice and brings 12 years of experience in applied data science. He holds an M.S. in Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley and has deep domain expertise in multivariate statistics, natural language processing (NLP), GIS, machine learning, simulation modeling, data privacy, and human-centered data product design.

He is skilled in a wide range of data analytics platforms and programming languages, including R, SQL, Python, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, ArcGIS, R Shiny, and D3.js. Michael has co-authored 10 manuscripts and abstracts in the areas of machine learning, optimization, biomechanics, orthopedics, and pharmaceuticals—including a lead-author publication in Nature’s Scientific Reports on high-dimensional data analysis.

Jun Lee

Principal Lead Data Analytics & Insights

Jun leads Analytica Consulting’s Data Analytics & Insights practice and is a certified Tableau developer and server administrator. He is a software development expert with 12 years of experience across a wide range of technologies, including Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, Adobe JavaScript, D3, C, C++, Java, Python, R, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks.

Jun holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego, with a concentration in User Experience Design and Accessibility. He has spent the past seven years developing data solutions and platforms for California State agencies, including the Department of Public Health, Department of Technology, Public Utilities Commission, Franchise Tax Board, and CalEPA. Jun specializes in building public dashboards that are not only visually compelling, but also accessible and user-friendly for a broad range of audiences.

Josh Karpen

Principal Lead Consultant

Josh holds a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Northwestern University, and a Data Mining Certification from University of California, San Diego. He is an expert in data modeling, data visualization and predictive analytics. He has expertise and certifications in many data analysis tools and platforms including Tableau, Denodo, Microsoft, R, SAS, Python, and SPSS.

Josh’s domain expertise spans multiple domains including Public Health, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development and Insurance.

Brent Johnson

Principal Lead Consultant

Brent is a seasoned business intelligence executive and data visualization expert with over 15 years of experience and an MBA from UC Davis. He is a Tableau Certified Professional and is proficient with several platforms including Microsoft, Tableau, Salesforce, Cognos, and Denodo.

Brent has deep expertise in the public health, healthcare, vision, pharmaceutical, and biomedical research industries. He helps clients utilize their data to improve decision-making and increase efficiency. He has garnered extensive experience managing numerous government agency data projects for the the States of California and Nebraska. He has also managed implementations at several commercial Fortune 500 organizations including Pfizer, Illumina and Qualcomm.

Jake Coniglione

Principal Consultant

Jake is an experienced data analyst and engineer with expertise in developing analytics applications that are accessible to both technical and non-technical business users.

Jake has expertise with several analytics platforms including Tableau, Qlik and Microsoft BI suite and has worked with various data sources ranging from relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), commercial applications (Salesforce, Oracle) and custom software. Jake has presented to community leaders, city officials, and executives of respected companies.

Carl Hollingsworth

Principal Consultant

Carl holds an MBA from the University of Illinois and is an expert at distilling actionable business insights from complex data sources. His expertise spans a variety of data analysis platforms and languages including Spotfire, Tableau, Qlik, Denodo, SQL, R, and Python.

Carl’s experience in data analytics and data strategy covers multiple sectors including the semiconductor, equipment maintenance, manufacturing, education, and insurance industries.

Brendan Law

Principal Consultant

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Diego State University. He developed his foundational skillset in data science with the Harvard Extension School. He has over 10 years of leadership in business intelligence with expertise in data modeling, data visualization and predictive analytics.

Brendan has domain expertise in media, entertainment, advertising, healthcare, finance, biotech and life sciences. His technical expertise includes Python, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SSIS/SSRS, Denodo and Spotfire.

Emily Rail

Principal Consultant

Emily has a masters degree in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. She uses a variety of skills for data analysis including Python, R, Tableau, and SQL. Emily’s experience in data analysis includes corporate sustainability planning, building portfolio analysis, and energy use optimization.

Daniel Molitor

Principal Consultant

Daniel has more than 8 years of experience in providing data analytics and data strategy solutions in numerous business sectors. He holds a dual Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University, and studied Advanced Mathematics at UC Berkeley.

He has a passion for generating insightful data stories leveraging statistical theory, economic models, scientific computing, and forecast behavior.

James Logan

 Naoufal is an experienced data engineer with expertise in designing and managing complex data systems, and building end-to-end data solutions, including data lakes, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure, using tools like Azure, Snowflake, Power BI, and Fivetran. He has a wealth of experience he designing pipelines and implementing data migration solutions using technologies such as Azure, Cosmos DB, and Snowflake. 

Taheer Rahim

Taheer has more than 6 years of experience in business intelligence, and data analytics across multiple sectors, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Transportation, Oil and Gas, Forestry, and the Canadian Federal Government. His expertise spans a variety of data analytics areas including data visualization, data management, data governance, data engineering, and data analysis. With his extensive background in both data engineering and business, he has an innate ability to review, analyze, and present data to provide comprehensive and actionable business insights.

Taheer holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and a Certificate of Business Intelligence and Analytics from the University of Calgary, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is a Certified Business Intelligence Professional, TDWI, and a Certified Data Professional, ICCP.
